On Oscar night Philip Seymour Hoffman paid a touching tribute to his mother Marilyn O'Connor. Picking up his best actor statuette, the thesp invited the audience "to congratulate her".
"She brought up four kids alone, and she deserves a congratulations for that," declared Philip, adding that Marilyn also took him to see his first play.
