She's one of the finest British actresses of her generation and with her blonde hair contrasting sharply with those big brown eyes, 34-year-old Emilia Fox has looks that are as memorable as her many roles, the most recent being as Dr Nikki Alexander in BBC's Silent Witness.

And now the daughter of actor Edward Fox and the wife of Richard Harris's son, Jared Harris, is making the most of those looks with a new role as style ambassador for Charles Worthington's haircare range, Time Defy, which targets women who want to protect their hair as well as their skin after the age of 30.

"As an actress, I constantly need to change my hair to suit my latest role, but a busy schedule outside of filming means I don't have time to look after my hair as much as it needs," says Emilia.

"Daily styling and colouring have taken their toll over the years and I noticed how the condition of my hair changed when I hit my 30s."

Time Defy products aim to keep the years at bay by ensuring hair is properly nourished and its vitality maintained. Charles tells us two years have gone into developing the range, which includes a moisturising and a volumising shampoo and conditioner, a protein masque and a mousse to help styles keep their shape, as well as a spray to protect hair that may be becoming drier and coarser from damage caused by heated styling appliances.

He chose Emilia because, he says, she is someone with whom the range's target audience of "confident, ambitious women" could identify. "And as a classic English beauty, exuding intelligence, elegance and charm, she is the perfect style ambassador," he says.
