Trend alert: roll out the barrel curls

MTV Awards prove summer tresses are tousled

Sienna was one of the Hollywood beauties working casual curls in her hair at the MTV awards  

It’s going to be a long, soft summer if the MTV awards are any indicator of hair trends. Lauren Conrad, Sienna Miller, Vanessa Hudgens, even Miley Cyrus with her loosely dressed updo, all favoured casual curls for their own version of award-winning style.

The trick is to use either big-barrelled tongs or straighteners to create the curls and to work with large sections of hair from the ends up.

Clamp the ends of each section with the appliance and wrap hair around the barrel (or closed arms of the irons), twisting with each rotation so you get a kink to the curl instead of a roll.

Continue until you reach the ear or temple, hold for just a few seconds and gently unwind without disturbing the curl and leave to cool. Then gently loosen by shaking through hair with fingers.

Many of the stars wore their tousled tresses with a centre parting, although we loved Megan Fox’s take on the style, with hair slicked back right to the nape before opening out into a cascade of curls. Gorgeous.

help!
i want a a barrel tong as i want to create large bouncy curls in my hair
i have quite heavy hair and therefore need something that will last
does anyone know of any good curlers ????
