Mad Men’s January Jones was a winner in the style stakes with a simple piece of ribbon to frame her updo
They may have only collected one award at the Golden Globes, but Mad Men’s cast picked a winner with January Jones.
The actress gets our 'Most Simple Yet Effective Accessory' gong for a dramatic black headband that gave the edge to an easy updo.
And it wasn’t even an expensive adornment from one of Hollywood’s most exclusive salons.
Celebrity stylist Mark Townsend simply used a piece of shiny ribbon to wind round January’s hair, immediately connecting it to the shiny material of the collar on the actress’s dress.
"As soon as I saw the dress I knew I wanted to put her up," Mark reports. “And I think that adding the satin ribbon as a headband gave a classic French twist a very modern edge."
Mark used celebrity favourite Moroccanoil Treatment on January’s hair after washing to create a super-shiny, silky finish, before blowdrying over a round brush to give hair lift at the roots.
Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream distributed through with fingers afterwards smooths hair while also adding hold, before it’s gathered at the back and twisted in on itself to create a French pleat, with about ten pins pushed into the pleat to keep it in place.
The improvised head band finishes off the look, tied tightly at the base or to the side.
You can find Moroccanoil stockists at www.moroccanoil.com. The Treatment is £29.85 and the Cream £22.35.
