Vintage romance rules in the hair stakes

16 JANUARY 2012 Infused with class and romanticism, the gentle updo is a sure red carpet winner – and it reigned at the Golden Globes 2012.

Charlize Theron gave the timeless look a twist with a diamond-encrusted headband, whilst Kate Winslet and Jessica Alba channelled glamour from a bygone era with their soft, side-swept waves.

Other stars opted for a more au naturel approach to their tresses – Jessica Biel and Reese Witherspoon wore loose, dishevelled waves, whilst Elle Macpherson and Madonna chose more defined, cascading curls. 

 

And, of course, it wouldn't be an awards ceremony without a classic chignon.

Angelina Jolie demonstrated the power of the classic 'do which gave centre stage to her beautiful Atelier Versace gown.

Meanwhile, Natalie Portman oozed silver screen glamour and elegance with her neat bun.
