Salma Hayek debuted a brand new shorter hairstyle on Thursday

The star posted a striking close-up selfie that showed off her shorter locks, which appear to fall just above her shoulders. Showing off her sense of humour, the Wild Wild West star pulled an expression of mock surprise, beaming for the camera.

"New haircut for my new comedy, Drunk Parents!" she captioned the snap for her 827,000 followers. Salma is set to star in the upcoming film alongside Alec Baldwin, with the pair playing parents who get caught in a series of unfortunate but hilarious mishaps after they drop their daughter off at college.

It's not the first time this month that the actress, who has an eight-year-old daughter named Valentina, caused a buzz on social media.

The Mexican beauty recently took to Instagram to share a throwback snap of her pre-baby physique, but admitted that she is much happier nowadays with the body she has and the life she lives.

"This was my waist before pregnancy," she explained in the caption accompanying a photo of herself flaunting her toned abs and slender build in a white bikini and sarong. "Now it's not the same but my life is so much better."

The star often opens up about her adorable daughter, from Valentina's recent decision to grow her hair out for charity, to her little girl's talent regarding make-up and beauty.

"She's done my make-up and she's really, really good!" The Frida star told E! Online. "I have the opportunity to work with great make-up artists and she's watching them like a hawk. She's actually talented with it."
