Sarah Michelle Gellar is ready to reprise the role of Kathryn Merteuil for the Cruel Intentions reboot. The 38-year-old revealed she has dyed her trademark blonde locks back to the brunette hues she rocked when she starred in the original film – and shared her excitement with her Instagram followers.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star posted a striking selfie of herself beaming, with her new chocolate brown tresses worn down in a sleek blow dry style. "#brownhairdontcare (actually kind of love it!!) thank you everyone @andylecomptesalon," she captioned the close-up snap.
Sarah Michelle had teased fans earlier in the day with a sneak peek at part of her new 'do. "What is happening????" she quipped in the caption, sparking a social media frenzy amidst fans who were quick to note it was for the upcoming television remake of the iconic film.

There's no doubt that the actress is excited to be taking part in the new venture – since announcing she would be joining the cast, Sarah Michelle has repeatedly shared throwback snaps of the 1999 hit movie, as well as sneak peeks of her script copies for the new version.
Sarah starred in the original movie alongside Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe and Selma Blair. The new TV series will pick up where the film left off, focusing on teenager Bash Casey (Taylor John Swift), the son of the late Sebastian Valmont (Ryan) and Annette Hargrove (Reese).

According to Variety, Kathryn – described as "smart, sexy, cruel, charismatic and powerful" – is now married to the wealthy Pascal Barrett and spearheads a local youth rehabilitation movement, as well as being involved in a local private school. She is "privately shaken by the arrival of Sebastian's son, Bash, and the reappearance in her life of the girl she wronged years ago, Annette".
