Cosmetic Executive Woman, an organisation for women within the beauty industry, has developed a directory which gives guidance and links to services that can help women who find themselves facing cancer - like Jade Goody did - cope

31 MARCH 2009

The tragic death of Jade Goody has highlighted the devastating impact of cancer on everyone – 150,000 more women are diagnosed with the disease every year in the UK. And while the diagnosis itself is traumatic, finding out how to cope can add to the distress. So Cosmetic Executive Woman, an organisation for women within the beauty industry, has developed a directory which gives guidance and links to services that can help women cope with the disease.

The list of services includes support groups, health and cancer information services, reconstructive plastic surgery clinics and hospitals, post and pre-operative fashion and lingerie, holistic therapies and more. It also includes information on appropriate beauty and skincare products and Trevor Sorbie's My New Hair programme – a network of hairdressers who offer help in selecting and personalising wigs to help women feel more comfortable about their looks as they undergo treatment.

The Living & Working With Cancer Directory will be available free of charge through the nationwide Look Good… Feel Better UK organisation cancer centres, support groups, My New Hair Centres and directly from CEW - Call 020 7940 2900 for details. Supporting this will be a new and regularly updated Cancer & Careers website which has just gone live and offers help on financial, legal and employment matters to ensure women with cancer are aware of their rights and help them find access to help and support.
