Bobbi Brown is one of several make-up companies donating proceeds from its products to breast cancer charities this October

07 OCTOBER 2008

October's a great month for women as it's given over to both raising awareness of a disease that strikes at what makes many of us feel most womanly and also allowing us to fund the fight against it by indulging our desire to look our best.

For instance, if you buy Avon Crusade Limited edition SuperFULL Mascara with pink packaging, £7.50, Avon will make a £2 donation to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The mascara claims to make lashes five-times fuller and the formula contains 'anti static' technology for clump-free, super-defined lashes.

Also from Avon, there's Skin So Soft Creamy Body Wash, £3, which includes an on-pack reminder to get women to check their breasts while in the shower, plus a 30p donation to Breakthrough for every bottle sold.

Radio One DJ Sara Cox thinks it's a great idea: "The Body Wash is a great prompt when you are in the shower. As a busy working mum it can be easy to forget about being breast aware, but making sure we all know our breasts and what's normal for us is so important." Call 0845 601 4040 for Avon representatives.

From ghd comes the limited edition IV styler with pink plates, £135, accompanied by three gorgeous lip glosses in a mirrored pink case for good looks on the go. The company says it will donate £10 to Breakthrough for every pack sold. Available from www.ghdhair.com; call 0845 330 1133 for stockists.

And Bobbi Brown is giving us the limited edition Pink Ribbon Collection, £27, featuring Tulle Lip Colour and Pink Quartz Glitter Lip Gloss in a pretty pink gift box. Throughout October, the entire UK purchase price, minus VAT, will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation's study at the Royal Marsden in London. Call 0870 034 2566 or visit www.bobbibrown.co.uk.
