Beauty says bye-bye: stock up on Estee Lauder's Prescriptives brand

After 30 years providing custom-blend cosmetics, Prescriptives is to close

18 SEPTEMBER 2009

If you find it difficult to find make-up that matches your complexion or simply prefer the personal touch, you’d better start stocking up on Prescriptives custom blends.

The brand has announced it is to close from January 2010, with the website remaining open for business at www.prescriptives.com until stocks run out.

Estee Lauder, which owns Prescriptives, has announced that the brand’s “long-term business model is no longer viable in the current market environment”.

Which is a shame, because Prescriptives has been a department-store staple for 30 years, specialising in great quality cosmetics with a touch of prestige.

And it was one of the few companies on the high street to offer a personalised service that would make up a foundation, concealer or lipstick to suit your skin tone exactly.

Until we discovered Christian Dior’s Capture Totale, Prescriptives foundation had been our favourite ever base, with coverage that perfectly evened out skin tone without being too drying.

So we’ll be joining the throngs at the beauty counters to get it before it goes.
