Kylie Jenner has spoken candidly about her temporary lip fillers

"When you first get them done, you're like, 'Oh it could be a little bit bigger on that side,'" she told Complex, for whom she is the October/November cover star. "But I went too far. It was very painful."

The 19-year-old explained that her lack of confidence came from a "rude" comment she received during her school years. "This guy I kissed was like, 'Your lips are really small but you're a really good kisser. I didn't think you were gonna be good at kissing,'" she explained. "It was so rude. From then on, I just felt like I saw guys staring at my lips. I felt like no one wanted to kiss me."

She reveals she thinks she went "too far" with the look

Kylie's millions of social media followers soon noted that the reality TV star was rocking a plumper pout, and she even inspired the 'Kylie Jenner lip challenge' where fans tried various ways to recreate the look at home including using vacuum cleaners and bottle tops - prompting Kylie to speak out and urge her fans to stop the unsafe methods.

Despite the speculation, Kylie initially chose to keep her treatments quiet, eventually confessing she had opted for cosmetic surgery during an episode of her family's hit TV show.

Kylie didn't initially tell fans as she didn't want to be a "bad influence"

The beauty guru explained that because of her life in the spotlight, she had been worried about opening up because of the potential reaction from her fans, as at the time she was just 17 years old.

"What if I came out and said, 'Oh, yeah, I got my lips done'? What are all those moms going to think about me?" she said. "These kids, my fans, they're going to think I'm crazy."

She added: "I didn't want to be a bad influence. I didn't want people to think you had to get your lips done to feel good about yourself. But they thought it was crazier that I was lying about it because it was so obvious. I wish I had just been honest and upfront."
