New mum Kerry Washington makes glamorous return to the red carpet

Kerry Washington came back with a bang on Wednesday as she returned to the red carpet for the first time since the birth of her daughter Isabelle Amarachi in April.

The new mummy looked stunning as she stepped out for the Women in Film’s Crystal + Lucy Awards in LA. Kerry, who received a Lucy Award at the event, chose a striking Max Mara dress that featured a black top, plunging neckline and a vibrant, multi-coloured skirt.

Her husband Nnamdi Asomugha was also in attendance, according to reports, although true to form the notoriously private couple did not pose for any pictures together.

Kerry, 37, and former NFL player Nnamdi, 32,  secretly tied the knot in June of last year.

They welcomed their first child, Isabelle, at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre on 21 April; husband and wife managed to keep news of her arrival a secret for 11 days.

The reticent Scandal star briefly touched upon her experiences of motherhood in a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times.

"I feel really, really blessed," Kerry said. "I just feel really blessed that I'm kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life." Kerry did message her fans about three weeks after giving birth. "Well… I still won't talk about my personal life on here," she wrote. "But… I see your tweets. And I am filled with gratitude! XO #HappyMothersDay."
