02 JUNE 2009

Beautiful sunny days lift the spirits and make us all feel happier and more positive. But the downside is the risk to skin of ageing and skin cancer – we now have more new cases than in Australia. So make sure you protect your skin with our round-up of the latest suncare specials…

Nivea Sun Invisible Protection Sprays, in SPF 10, 20, 30, from £12.29, are ideal if you don’t want your protection to be noticeable – perfect for everyday use around town. One spritz delivers a fine, clear mist of protective, invisible film without greasiness or stickiness and which moisturises skin, too. And it protects straightaway, with an optimum choice of UVA/B filters to protect against burning and ageing.

Clinique Sun With SolarSmart, in SPF 15, 25, 30, 40, from £13.50, contains UVB absorbers and broad protection against UVA to protect against damage, while antioxidants encapsulated in a protein shell enable targeted delivery of anti-agers. There are also anti-irritants to help calm and soothe and plankton extract to help repair.

Superdrug Solait, in SPF 4, 6, 15, 25, 30, 50, £8.97, isn’t new, but it is being sold with a buy-one-get-one-free special offer throughout the summer, with 50p from every SPF50 going to the Teenage Cancer Trust - £375,000 was raised last year. Superdrug is also continuing to lobby the Government to reduce the VAT on suncare products which would help bring down prices. Join the petition at www.superdrugpromotion.com.
