3 essential rules for any skincare routine

25 APRIL 2014 From dry, oily or combination skin types, there is an abundance of choices of skincare routines to help getting blemish-free, healthy skin, which can sometimes be overwhelming.

HELLO! Online has found that no matter what your skin type, there are three essential steps to ensuring you take great care of your skin. Skincare brand Clinique have devised a 3 Step Skin care system embodying these three golden rules, and have created products which enhance the benefits of a good routine.

1. CLEANSE

Cleansing is a key part of skincare, as it's important to refresh the skin. Clinique's Facial Soap (£11.50 for 100g) or Liquid Facial Soap (£15.50 for 200ml) are great as they cleanse the skin without drying it out, or leaving it feeling tight.

Beauty blogger Emily from Fashion Foie Gras swears by the simple step. "My skin is freed of the day's dirt and grime and left feeling refreshed and cleansed," she says.

2. EXFOLIATE

Exfoliation is key to getting glowing, healthy-looking skin. Clinique's Clarifying Lotion (£25 for 400ml) is available for multiple skin types, and its simple yet effective formula will leave you with a healthy complexion. "It leaves my skin feeling prepped and ready for the final step in my system," Emily says. Extra tip - a good exfoliation will help your moisuriser work its magic!

3. MOISTURISE

Re-hydrate your skin with a good moisturiser to ensure it remains supple and soft. Clinique have reformulated their Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (£28 for 125ml) to double the moisturisation levels for comfortable hydrated skin all day, strengthening the skin's moisture barrier in just 8 weeks for added protection. Emily describes this final step as "the most luxurious".
