Even with sharp ornaments poking the pregnant star's ears, cheeks, forehead and chin, it appears that the procedure was an improvement on the aforementioned blood facial. Adding a comment alongside her selfie, the television personality and fashionista reassured her fans that the ancient beauty treatment isn't as painful as it look saying that it was "Oh just relaxing…" Having previously commented that she is happy "trying anything that makes you look and feel youthful", acupuncture may just be another favourite facial to add to her growing list. Kim's regular beauty routine entails everything from a UMO 24-karat facial ($300), two glygolic peels per week ($500) to bi-monthly visits to Bailey’s Spa in Beverly Hills ($2,500). Despite being a no stranger to the regular facial procedure the star did sport a rather unusual look during this particular salon visit. With her hair pulled back, the star's shot showed that she was wearing a full face of make-up – including heavy amounts of eyeliner and mascara. But it seems that Kim may have been using the alternative for medicinal rather than cosmetics reason. The ancient treatment which is often used to relieve the effects of morning sickness could suggest that Kim is seeking more natural remedies to relieve any symptoms she may be experiencing. Sure enough the pregnant reality star has often tweeted complaints that she "can't sleep" which the procedure could help with. Joining what appears to be a new skincare craze, Kim is just one of many celebrities this month to spring clean their skin.

Made in Chelsea's Millie Mackintosh also tweeted her own excitement for facial acupuncture whilst singer Rita Ora became fresh faced with a less invasive at-home treatment by using some Asian facial cloth masks whilst on tour in Japan.
