An enthusiastic Prince Charles joined 100,000 other fans at the star-studded eight-hour charity concert

The Prince of Wales found time backstage to tell chartbusters Hear'Say that he and his sons are big fans

Cheekiest act of the day was Atomic Kitten, pictured above with Chris Tarrant. Bypassing royal protocol, the threesome hugged Prince Charles and presented him with an 'I Love AK' T-shirt

A host of pop megastars lent their support to a right royal good cause last week, with top acts including Hear’Say, Ronan Keating and Tom Jones strutting their stuff at the eight-hour Party In The Park charity concert which raised £1 million for The Prince’s Trust.

“There’s nothing to beat live music,” said the Prince in a TV interview ahead of the Hyde Park bash which celebrated 25 years of his Trust. And there was plenty of it - provided by artistes from hip-swivelling Latin sensation Ricky Martin to a racy Geri Halliwell gyrating in a leotard - to treat the 100,000 cheering fans at the event.

Behind the scenes, Hear’Say’s Danny Foster was trying to pluck up courage to speak to Destiny’s Child beauty Beyonce Knowles. “I fancy her so much I could only smile when I met her,” he confessed. Meanwhile Beyonce had a bigger star on her mind: her group had been chosen to present Prince Charles with a 25th anniversary cake on behalf of the charity.
