Since her split from Hugh Grant 14 months ago, the 36-year-old star has been seemingly gathering and discarding at whim a string of well-connected and wealthy beaux - the latest being London playboy Tim Jeffries.

Liz’s first serious relationship after splitting from Hugh was with Hollywood exec Steve Bing, 37, who she dated for six months. The actress has also been linked to Wall Street financier Teddy Forstmann, basketball star Steve Nash, actor Denis Leary and Scots-born producer Guy Louthan. In the past month, she has enjoyed an intimate dinner with Canadian singer Bryan Adams and shared a lingering kiss with Mark Reynolds at a charity polo match in New York.

The latest man to catch Liz’s eye is Mr Jeffries, 38, who numbers such high-profile beauties as Elle Macpherson and Claudia Schiffer among his conquests.

“Elizabeth is just having some fun at the moment,” says a friend. “She has come out of a long-term relationship (13 years) with Hugh and now she wants to play the field a little.”
