She’s been labelled a wild child, Bohemian artist, designer’s muse and style icon. Now, as she celebrates her 30th birthday, Jade Jagger has assumed the very grown-up title of Creative Director of the Queen’s jeweller Garrard.
It may seem a improbable leap from jet-setting, club-hopping free spirit to full-time career woman, but jewellery-maker Jade insists she’s ready for the challenge.
Originally hired to overhaul their fine jewellery collection a year ago by luxury goods retailer Asprey & Garrard – which is to be demerged and relaunched as two distinct brands in spring 2002 – Jade has admitted she would never have imagined she would one day join such a grand British institution.
"I'm not sure I ever expected to become part of the establishment, especially not at my age," mused London's most glamorous hippy. "But it certainly looks like it's happened, at least for a while. Just look at me!"
