Just when football seemed to be turning ugly with stories of bar-room brawls and courtroom dramas, Footballers’ Wives has brought the glamour back to our national sport.

Mercifully there is very little football involving players at fictional Earls Park FC. The ITV series resolves around three young couples – the Wamsleys, the Turners and the Pascoes – dealing with life in the celebrity spotlight.

Leading ladies Zoe Lucker, 27, Susie Amy, 20, and Katherine Monaghan, 22, have been captivating 5.5 million viewers every Tuesday night since the eight-part series began last month. The three have become firm friends since landing their career-making roles.

They are keeping their finely manicured fingers crossed that the show, created by the team who gave us Bad Girls, will be picked up for a second series. Meanwhile, they are content to keep busy with such taxing tasks as choosing their next outfit for our photo shoot.
