Somebody up there likes Brookside actress Sarah White. She gave birth to her first child, Ruby, last July with such apparent ease that one can only conclude she is destined to have a whole brood.
It’s a theory that is shared whole-heartedly by her husband Tony Bains, a 31-year-old graphic designer, though with more reticence by the 32-year-old actress who plays barmaid Bev McLoughlin in the Merseyside soap.
“We have been so spoilt with Ruby that I keep thinking perhaps we should stick with one,” says Sarah, cosily ensconced in the country-style kitchen of their converted coach house in a leafy suburb of Liverpool.
“Since she was born, Ruby has had only two bad nights. She can sleep between nine and 13 hours a night, and when she’s awake she’s giggling. I hope this doesn’t mean she will rebel as a teenager.”
