"I'm so proud of myself for having got so far that I haven't stopped smiling," says the 18-year-old singer from South Wales, currently on a nationwide tour with her fellow Pop Idol contestants

There were no tears from bubbly Welsh singer Rosie Ribbons when presenters Ant and Dec told her that viewers had voted her off Pop Idol.

The 18-year-old, who had come through weeks of frustration, anxiety and, at times, public humiliation to find her self among the last six of the 10,000 hopefuls hoping to be the new Madonna or Robbie Williams, showed that she was made of strong stuff.

“I knew deep down I was going to be voted off and I’d made up my mind not to bash myself up about it,” she explains at London’s chic West Street Hotel. “Pop Idol was my first audition. Hopefully, there’ll be others.

“I’ve had time to reflect on what I’ve been doing and it’s such a nice feeling. Now I’m focused and I’ve got bags of determination. I’m proud of myself for having got so far that I haven’t stopped smiling.”
