Prince Harry made a low-key visit to this year's event. Prince Michael of Kent (left) also attended, having lunch with the Duke of Beaufort in Badminton House (top left). The winner was Pippa Funnell on her horse Supreme Rock

It’s difficult to believe that a pin-up prince could pass unnoticed in a crowd, but that’s just what happened when 17-year-old Harry, third in the line of succession to the throne, joined some pals at this year’s Badminton Horse Trials.

Dressed in a grey fleece and khaki jeans with a black America’s Cup baseball cap covering his bright red hair, Harry wandered around the grounds without attracting any attention whatsoever. He arrived driving Prince William’s old VW Golf before making for the grandstand and getting caught up in the excitement of watching the final of the showjumping. He whooped and yelled as the competitors battled it out, though this did not prevent him from also spending a considerable amount of time chatting to friends on his mobile phone.
