Former Westlife star Brian McFadden has admitted he's "getting on with life" on his own after news of marriage woes with wife Kerry hit the headlines earlier this week.

Brian, who cited his desire to spend more time with his family as the reason he left Westlife in March, is now finding solo success in the pop charts. The new found focus on his individual career has caused a rift in his relationship with Kerry – and, to hear Brian tell it, the split just may be permanent.

"I don't know if we'll be able to work things out," said Brian, who has two children with the I'm A Celebrity winner. He added: "I am just getting on with life on my own, moving on with my life and taking care of our kids."

Of the difficult balance between career and marriage, he says: "I always feel like I have two different lives, one is my work life and one is my home life. Sometimes one is up while the other is down and vice-versa… Of course it is tough, but I must remember people have been through worse and life is very short.

"You only get one chance at life and you've got to grab it with both hands."

Brian and Kerry, who have two daughters, Molly, three, and 18-month-old Lily Sue, weathered similar troubles not long after their January 2002 wedding, but later reconciled.
