Irish songbird Andrea Corr says she wants to keep her new foray into cinema - a role in supernatural thriller The Thread - hush hush.

"I kind of want it to be a secret because I get a bit of a cringe factor at the idea of 'singer-turns-actress'," admits the 31-year-old. Since Andrea has legions of fans around the world, however, it's unlikely her part in the film, the story of a businessman of British and Indian descent haunted by a mysterious woman from his past, will go unnoticed.
Having already shot some scenes in India, Andrea now heads for the Isle of Man to complete filming with her co-stars, Enigma's Saffron Burrows and Linus Roache, who had a role in Batman Begins.
Despite her qualms, this is not the songstress' first venture on the silver screen. While still at school, she made her acting debut in the hugely popular 1991 movie The Commitments. Later Andrea went on to have a singing role in the musical Evita opposite Madonna. Last year she was seen playing a hospital psychologist counselling a suicidal man in The Bridge, a short thriller that showed at the Cannes Film Festival.
The globe-trotting star's next stop may be Australia as boyfriend Shaun Evans is due to be Down Under while he shoots The Middle Of Nowhere. "If it was somewhere like Sydney I would definitely pop over," she said. Although Andrea was rather less keen on visiting the isolated outback. "If it was literally in the middle of nowhere, all I would have is the kangaroos."
