Anastacia has abandoned her pop star look to become a Vespa-riding "signorita". The New York native, who is more often seen wearing low-slung jeans and revealing tops, was snapped in a Fifties-style tartan skirt and matching jacket while working in the picturesque town of Ariccia.

The singer has reinvented herself for the video of her new duet with Italian crooner Eros Ramazzotti. With a headscarf covering her golden tresses and her toned midriff nowhere to be seen, the 31-year-old was almost unrecognisable to passers-by.

Anastacia, who underwent surgery for breast cancer in 2003, says she is determined to break the stigma attached to the disease. "Strange though it is, I feel more feminine now than I ever did," she explained recently. "I absolutely feel sexy and radiant, and I wouldn't have thought that would be the situation after having such a shameful disease as cancer has become. I'd love to change that image."

Eros, who has worked with musical icons like Tina Turner and Cher in years gone by, confessed to having a special place in his heart for his latest collaborator. "Thinking back to all the duets of my career, Anastacia is the artist I felt most at home with," he said.
