The celebrity pair plan to make their union official on December 21, the first date allowed under the new civil partnerships law, and the pop star's spokesman says they are "both ecstatic".
Clair Williams, the registrar who presided at Charles and Camilla's wedding, will also do the honours for Elton. "We will do the utmost to ensure that the ceremony is a very special and private occasion for them," she said.
The town of Windsor, where the musician has a £12-million home, is now bracing itself to welcome another high-profile wedding. Although Elton has said the ceremony itself will be a low-key affair with only the couple's parents as witness, he is expected to throw a spectacular bash later in the day with celebrities like Liz Hurley, Victoria Beckham and Donatella Versace in attendance. |
