BEYONCE GETS A BOOTYLICIOUS BIRTHDAY TREAT

15 SEPTEMBER 2006

Birthdays come and go, but for superstars like Beyonce, who turned 25 last week, the party doesn't seem to stop. Currently in Toronto promoting her latest solo album, the R&B vocalist was in for a treat as she dropped by the MuchMusic show.

The Austin Powers star received a three-tiered birthday cake and was understandably delighted when a hunky, bare-chested male model presented her with a huge bunch of red balloons during the TV interview.

Her Canadian trip has brought back fond memories for the pop diva who has been globe-trotting of late with visits to London and Tokyo. "My very first tour with Destiny's Child was in Canada with Wyclef, and at the time we were in a little minivan... we were the happiest kids in the world," she recalled.

Apart from the buff model, she received another welcome birthday present this week as her latest album reached No 1 on the American billboard charts. B'day was released on September 5 and the star admits "relief" that her fans have loved her new sound.

"The record is different and I wasn't sure if everybody would understand it," she told Canadian reporters. "At the time I just loved it so I didn't care, but you know when it's time for the record to come out, you're like, 'Oh God, did I make a mistake?'. But everyone is allowing me to grow, so it feels good."
