The worlds of rock, rap and R&B came together on Wednesday night when Beyonce and her fiancé Jay Z hit the town with Gwyneth Paltrow and her British husband Chris Martin. America's favourite chanteuse stepped out with the British rocker and his Oscar-winning wife after Jay Z's concert in London's Royal Albert Hall.

Hip-hop fans who had gone along to the gig had been hoping his bootylicious partner would put in an appearance, but they got quite a surprise when Chris and Gwyneth took to the stage as well. Rap fans aren't exactly the Coldplay frontman's target market, but that didn't stop them giving him a rapturous welcome when he stepped into the limelight and provided backing vocals on Heart Of The City. And the appearance of Shakespeare In Love's leading lady, who lent her vocal talents to the track Song Cry, came as even more of a surprise.

It was easy to understand why the glamorous foursome were all sporting broad grins after the show, as their unexpected collaboration went down a storm with the audience. Afterwards the two couples spent the night sipping champagne and celebrating their success at an exclusive after party in the capital's upmarket Movida restaurant.
