Even the most talented and experienced artists can have slip ups on stage. And when they happen you just have to go on with the show – as Jennifer Lopez demonstrated during the American Music Awards.

During a performance of her new singe Louboutins, the singer had a minor stumble during a particularly tricky part of her dance routine.

After walking up a pyramid of male dancers she leaped into the air, but lost her balance on landing, falling on her derriere.

But like a true pro Jennifer jumped to her feet and carried on with her performance without missing a beat.

The Jenny From The Block singer's routine was just one of several show-stopping turns during the annual music ceremony.

Rihanna, during her first US gig after being assaulted by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, wowed fans in a daring bandage-style catsuit.

Meanwhile Lady GaGa also chose a skin-tight ensemble, adorned with bones, to perform her hits Bad Romance and Speechless.

The quirky performer was up for three awards, but went home empty-handed.

Those picking up gongs on the night included Whitney Houston, who looked moved to be named as the International Artist of the Year.

Michael Jackson was honoured posthumously with four gongs, including Favourite Pop/Rock Male Artist.

Accepting an award on behalf of his brother, Jermaine Jackson said: "It's not just about the winnings, the awards, it's mainly the message. The message that Michael had will live on forever.

"He saw good in everyone and he wanted everyone to do good. He always started with love."
