Adele, 24, is following in One Direction's clay footprints by getting her own figure at Madame Tussauds. Work is well underway on the Oscar-winner's statue and new images released by the famous museum show sculptors putting the finishing touches to their creation.

Adele's figure will show the songstress in a dramatic performance pose and will be unveiled in London and Amsterdam in July. It's fitting that the mum-of-one will now take her place among the A-list at Madame Tussauds. Since breaking on to the music scene in 2008 with her debut album 19, Adele's career has gone from strength to strength despite taking a break for throat surgery and to give birth to son Angelo. She has become one of the UK's most successful exports thanks to her sophomore album 21, and her recent Oscar for the soaring Bond theme Skyfall.

Adele was also recently named the UK's richest young musician with her £30million fortune earning her top spot in The Sunday Times Young Musician Rich List. One important date in the songstress diary is first lady Michelle Obama's 50th birthday celebrations in January 2014. Adele will top the bill alongside fellow pop heavyweight Beyonce.
