The Eurovision song contest is the most fashionable singing competition in the world. Despite not having quite the same sartorial stature as the likes of the Met Gala, the annual event guarantees to bring some of the most memorable outfits of all time.
From cheesy to designer, ethereal ball gowns to midi dresses that transform into mini skirts (more on that below), there's never a dull fashion moment during this competition. And we’ve taken a look back at some of our favourites.

Lena Valaitis, 1992
Lena Valaitis wore the 2023's much loved sheer trend with a black and silver skirt and a tulle open half-skirt. She paired with a low neck black top and semi-sheer tights. Chic.
Lulu, 1969
Now this outfit makes us want to shout (FYI gen-z's, Shout one of, if her most legendary sing). A lover of miniskirts, she wore a flower adorned mini with hot pink heels -- a look that the Barbiecore fans would approve of/
Isgaard Marke, 2003
The German classical singer stunned in gold a-line gown with a etheral tulle attached to her fingers that moved as she moved.
Bucks Fizz, 1981
The energetic British group became iconic when the band's female sings, Cheryl Baker and Jay Aston famously ripped off their mini skirts mid-perfrormance. Underneath was a colour-coordinating mini skirt. Iconic.
Sam Ryder, 2022
Sam’s outfit was memorable not only because the striking monochrome, galactic jumpsuit was embroidered with 15,000 crystals, beans and pearls, but of course the long-haired legend finished second overall in 2022 – the highest ranking for the UK in the 21st century. His stunning Elton John/David Bowie-approved look is on display at the British Music Experience (BME) in Liverpool.
Dana International, 1998
Dana International’s iconic multi-coloured feather dress was from the Jean Paul Gaultier's 1997 Haute Couture collection. She became the first transgender woman to win the competition in 1998.
Ksenia Zhuk, 2017
Ksenia look angelic in an off-white and pink broderie anglaise dress. The tulle skirt and whimsical shoulders gave major 70s boho vibes.
Olivia Newton-John, 1974
Olivia Newton-John stepped on the Eurovision stage four years before Grease was released. She channeler her character Sandy in a baby blue prairie dress with ruffled sleeves and a tiered hem. She competed in the same year Abba won.
Maneskin, 2021
The Italian winners have worked with the likes of Gucci and played at Coachella since their Eurovision success. Luxury label Etro dressed them for the 2021 final which screamed 'rock-glam.

Will there ever be another Eurovision winner during our lifetime as iconic as ABBA? Winning the competition with Waterloo, the winners took it all in futuistic blue, orange and silver metallic ensembles.
Kate Miller-Heidke, 2019
The Australian singer performed in a dress that gave Zendaya's 2019 Met Gala Cinderella gown a run for its money. The tulle swayed back and forth, whilst she stood mid-air attached to a pole to sing her song Zero Gravity.
Elina Nechayeva, 2018
This mesmerising dress with animations beaming across apparently came to a whopping 52m squared. The opera singer represented Estonia is the iconic gown.
Sandie Shaw, 1967
Sandie's Like A Puppet On A String was the first UK song to win the contest. She stunned in an embellished babydoll pink mini dress - and yes, she went barefoot...
Celine Dion, 1988
Representing Switzerland, the megastar rocked a white double breasted blazer over a tutu. Will your heart go on for this funky combo?
Natalia Podolskaya, 2005
Natalia competed in the 50th Eurovision final in a stunning sequin plunge bodysuit, low-waist mini skirt and the ultimate noughties belt.
Scooch, 2007
Scooch were Flying The Flag for the UK with their iconic song. But what became even more iconic was their white, red and blue cabin crew attire.
Sonia, 1993
Sonia sang Better the Devil You Know in a royal blue jumpsuit with a sweetheart neckline and structured 3/4 sleeves.
Tix, 2021
The angel of the Nor...way. Tix stepped out in a glittery ensemble shrouded in an etheral white fur coat and ginormous angel wings.
Massiel, 1968
Massiel represented Spain and won in a Andalusian weather-approved crochet mini dress with pink detailing and a scalloped hem.
Elena Tsagrinou, 2021
Ok, we know this isn't a performance look. But Elena's arrival dress to the contest was spectacular. The stunning off the shoulder floral dress boasted ultra elegance, whilst the yellow shoes encapsulated dopamine dressing.
Verka Serduchka, 2007
This mesmerising futuristic outfit is a Dolce and Gabanna masterpiece. Verka then went on to release a song in honour of the Italian label in 2014.
Jedward, 2011
Jedward became as synonymous with 'funky matching outfits' as they did with overly tall, spiky blonde hair.
Destiny Chukunyere, 2021
Destiny wowed in a silver tassled mini dress paired with epic metallic knee high boots. Talk about disco fever.
Oscar Loya, 2009
Oscar from the duo 'Alex Swings Oscar Sings', wore epic skinny sequin trousers to perform with the one and only Dita Von Teese in the final.
Sertab Erener, 2003
Sertab wore a neon pink bra with satin, champagne coloured corset which was left open, over the top. In signature noughties style, she paired the look with a low rise, tassled maxi skirt.
