Famous for: Solving illusion-filled crimes in Jonathan Creek

Mop haired actor Alan Davies is familiar to most TV fans for his role as Jonathan Creek, an illusionist’s assistant-turned-sleuth, in the series of the same name. Appearances in ads for Abbey National have also helped boost his profile, but Alan was well-established as a stand-up comedian before he moved into acting. In fact, the Essex-born performer was named best comic at the Time Out Awards in 1991.
