Dublin-born Bernie Nolan was taking the pop charts by storm before she ever thought of having a go at prime time. But the petite performer eventually decided to leave her group, the Nolan Sisters, in favour of an acting career. After starring in a series of West End musicals, and presenting several TV shows, she landed the role of hairdresser Diane in the popular soap Brookside. More recently she has taken to the beat as Sergeant Murphy in The Bill.
