As a child J lived in Germany and Canada before his globe-trotting family decided to settle in Warrington. In order to pursue his musical ambitions he moved to London where, after answering an ad recruiting members for a boy band, the youngster shot to stardom in 1997 as part of chart-topping band Five. With their edgy style, cheeky attitude and hits including Slam Dunk Da Funk and Everybody Get Up the boys proved a huge success with the teen market and sold 20 million records worldwide. In 2001 the band members decided to go their separate ways, after which J got involved in the production side of the music industry. Having maintained a relatively low profile in the wake of the group's split, the singer returned to the limelight in 2007 with an appearance in hit ITV reality show I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.
