Famous for: Her portrayal of ruthless terrorist Annette in Harrison Ford blockbuster Patriot Games

Cheshire-born actress Polly Walker began her career as a dancer, but changed direction after an injury when she was 18. The mum-of-two cut her teeth treading the boards with the Royal Shakespeare Company before finding success with a string of appearances on both the small and silver screen. She came to the attention of audiences around the globe in 1992 with her role in big screen terrorist drama Patriot Games. This was followed by a number of notable roles, including parts in the Jane Austen adaptation Emma, comedy Curtain Call with Michael Caine, and crime thriller D-Tox which also starred Sylvester Stallone. TV fans will recognise Polly as Julius Cesar's scheming niece Atia from the BBC historical drama, Rome, the part which also netted her a Golden Globe nomination. She has also appeared in police dramas Waking The Dead and State Of Play
