Born to country and western double act parents, Sheridan Smith grew up in a showbusiness environment. She'd leaned to dance by the age of four and was singing by the time she was seven. After treading the boards as a teen with the National Youth Music Theatre she landed the role that would bring her nationwide recognition, playing Ralph Little's girlfriend in 1999 BBC comedy The Royal Family, a part she would reprise in Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps. Other small screen appearances include The Bill, Holby City and Fat Friends. Her big screen debut came with a part in 2001 indie flick Peaches, and she went on to land a role in 2008 adventure comedy Defunct. On the romance front she's been linked to Gavin And Stacey star James Cordin on whose BBC 3 show she has made guest appearances
