The younger members of Norway's expanding royal family have been delighting well-wishers with their appearances over recent days, and there was special excitement when the latest addition to the brood, Sverre Magnus, attended his first ever Christmas Eve church service.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit was smiling broadly as she tenderly cradled her three-week-old son at Asker Church, near Skaugum Palace to the south east of Oslo. His sister, two-year-old Princess Ingrid, proved herself something of a Daddy's girl when Crown Prince Haakon carried her into worship, alongside her older brother Marius, who's eight.
Joining the photogenic family for the holidays were Mette-Marit's relatives: her mother Marit Tjessem, brother Espen Hoiby and his partner Renate Jonassen with their baby son.
On Christmas Day it was the turn of Haakon's sister, Princess Martha Louise, to show off her family at Holmenkollen Chapel in the hills above Oslo. She arrived for prayers with her husband Ari Behn and their elder daughter, two-year-old Maud Angelica.
Perhaps the winter chill was thought to be too much for the other royal baby celebrating her first Christmas, as there was no sign of the couple's younger child, eight-month-old Leah Isadora. |
