FREDERIK VOTED 'MOST ROMANTIC' IN OUR POLL

15 FEBRUARY 2006

It would appear our readers have confirmed what Princess Mary of Denmark knew all along – her husband Crown Prince Frederik is the most romantic man in the world. In hellomagazine.com's online poll to find the most touching expression of affection made by a high-profile name, the popular royal made light work of beating the other loved-up contenders.

The future king moved his bride to tears at their wedding reception when he told her "the happiness and strength you give me is like the afternoon sun, its rays driving darkness and doubt deep into the ground". And our readers seem to have been touched by his words too, as the 37-year-old romped home to victory with 55 per cent on the vote.

Even the gladiatorial challenge of Russell Crowe couldn't compete, although the Cinderella Man did manage a respectable second place with 17 per cent. "Every now and then there's just a look on her face - when she's talking to me, and I want her to look at me like that all the time," said the Oscar-winner when asked about his feelings for wife Danielle.

Not far behind in third was Kurt Russell, who said of his long-time partner Goldie Hawn: "It's been 22 years and I still feel the same way about her as I did an hour after we met." And although fourth-place Andre Agassi is used to defeating the competition, he was more than happy to settle for a love match when it came to his fellow tennis star Steffi Graf. "Words have yet to be invented that are large enough, colourful enough, or true enough to express the heart and soul of this woman," he declared.

With such heart-felt expressions of adoration coming from the other contenders, Tom Cruise shouldn't be too downhearted about finishing fifth. And there can be little doubt in fiancée Katie Holmes' mind about the strength of his feelings, after her chisel-jawed beau stunned Oprah Winfrey by shouting: "I'm in love! I'm in love! I can't be cool. I can't be laid-back. I want to celebrate it. I want to celebrate her."
