Europe's princesses charm their fans

Europe's young royals have been delighting the public with a series of charming appearances from Denmark to Rio de Janeiro in recent days.

Seemingly untroubled by the sleepless nights that usually accompany motherhood, new mum Princess Mary was glowing with health at an official engagement in the Danish city of Nyborg on Tuesday.

In a flattering wine red jacket and black trousers, with a posy of spring blooms in hand, the elegant mother-of-one opened the proceedings at a conference on cerebral medicine.

Her confident demeanour and relaxed smile at the event provided proof that Tasmanian-born Mary is managing to combine her royal duties with caring for five-month-old baby Christian.

In another Scandinavian country culture lovers Princess Martha Louise and her husband Ari Behn attended a premiere in the city of Frederikstad. The Norwegian royals share an interest in traditional folk tales and music, so it was no surprise when colourful Ari took the opportunity to juggle some balls that were handed to him on the red carpet as his wife laughed and clapped in approval.

Meanwhile half way around the world in Brazil, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden had donned casual garb to boost spirits of her country's yachtsman as they set sail for the open sea in the challenging Volvo Ocean Race.

Dressed in the team's colours of blue and white the 28-year-old royal joined the Ericsson crew in Rio de Janeiro as they started out on the next leg of their adventure, which takes them to the United States.

Victoria has already proved a lucky charm to the crew on their eight-month voyage, helping them to victory in an in-port race off the Rio coastline a few days ago.
