With celebrations for her big day in full flow, Queen Elizabeth met up with some of British TV and radio's best known names on the eve of her 80th birthday.
During a visit to Broadcasting House to mark the 80th anniversary of the BBC being granted a royal charter, she caught up with some of the organisation's best-known stars including Terry Wogan, John Humphreys, Jo Whiley and Chris Evans.
Terry, who was knighted by the Queen in 2005, joked afterwards: "There was a long line of presenters, and as she came in she went over to Radio One. And I must say, full marks to her for pretending to know who they were."
During her visit, the monarch, who is a patron of the BBC, was shown the royal charter and other items symbolising the corporation's past, including a microphone her grandfather King George V used for his Christmas broadcasts.
