FERGIE'S ROYAL BOOST FOR BRAVE TEENAGERS

27 APRIL 2006

Sarah Ferguson brought a little extra cheer into the lives of some brave youngsters when she paid a visit to London's University College Hospital on Wednesday. The Duchess of York spent the afternoon chatting with patients in the Teenage Cancer Trust unit, who are courageously battling the deadly illness.

The flame-haired royal seemed to be getting on well with her new friends, joking and laughing warmly with one young man who was keen to show her something on his laptop computer. And the mum-of-two, who was looking stylish in a cropped black jacket and matching skirt, was also happy to make the acquaintance of a female patient who had been poring over fashion magazines before the royal guest arrived.

Sarah, who experienced a cancer scare herself in 1998, is well-known for her commitment to organisations working to combat the disease. A long-time patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust, she also campaigns on behalf of the American Cancer Society and a variety of children's charities.
