Maxima's girls full of joie de vivre on their Italian hols

Their smiles as bright as the Italian sunshine, royal siblings Amalia and Alexia turned on the charm at the start of a break at the Dutch royal family's Tuscan villa. It's clear the two little girls - who wore identical yellow sundresses for the photocall in Tavarnelle - have inherited their mother Maxima's winsome manner.

As she's done on many occasions before the two-year-old future queen Amalia copied her mother's confident demeanour before the cameras. Meanwhile her little sister, who was one in June, nestled comfortably in the arms of her dad.

The Dutch crown princess and her husband Willem-Alexander looked thrilled to have their daughters to themselves. In the last few months the couple have been dashing about on a hectic round of overseas tours. First they visited Mongolia and Thailand, where they attended King Bhumibol's silver jubilee celebrations. Then it was on to neighbouring Belgium and Germany for the World Cup.

But the next couple of weeks hold nothing but rest and relaxation for the globetrotting pair. And, if the children need any more attention, their doting grandmother Queen Beatrix is on hand to provide it.
