Charles and Camilla make a stylish royal entrance in Norfolk

Arriving in an open carriage drawn by grey horses, with two smartly turned out footmen perched in front, Prince Charles and his wife made quite an impression at the Sandringham Flower Show in Norfolk this week.

While others wilted in the heat, the Duchess of Cornwall seemed to take the scorching temperatures in her stride. Looking fresh in an elegant linen jacket and green skirt, the royal spent two hours chatting with locals alongside her husband. Although she carried with her a dainty white parasol that would have been handy for warding off the sun, Camilla didn't make use of it.

As a veteran of numerous overseas tours to sunny climes Charles had no trouble keeping his cool, despite wearing a double-breasted suit and tie. Well-known for his horticultural interests, the Prince is patron of the event, which was a favourite of his grandmother, the Queen Mother.

The royal couple can expect cooler conditions soon as they are due to join the Queen on the birthday cruise she's enjoying round the Western Isles of Scotland with much of the Windsor clan.
