Caring couple make surprise visit to fire-ravaged town

The caring Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise visit on Wednesday to a town almost entirely reduced to ashes by forest fires two months ago.

The royal couple flew into Slave Lake in Northern Alberta on a government Challenger jet, where they were met by a small line of dignitaries.

They went on to meet families affected by the fires and offered kind words of comfort.

They posed at Yellowknife airport before their flight to Slave Lake 

Kate went casual for the occasion, wearing the same navy blazer she wore for her departure from Hearthrow, a white ruffled shirt, navy J Brand jeans and Pied à Terre wedges 

She chatted with six-year-old Riley Oldford who presented her with a bouquet of flowers before her departure 

William also bent down to speak with Riley, who gave the Prince a firm handshake 

They were met in Slave Lake by a small line of dignitaries
