Crowds go wild for soul singer Barack Obama
20 JANUARY 2012 Barack Obama sent the crowds wild during a fundraising event in New York. But it wasn't the president's speech that made the 1400-strong audience clap and cheer.
While boosting his reelection campaign, he broke into song and belted out a line from Al Green's hit Let's Stay Together.
The soul legend was actually there, but it was the commander-in-chief's singing skills which brought the house down.
"Those guys didn't think I would do it. I told you I was going to do it," Barack said with a smile, glancing off stage.
"Don't worry Rev, I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show my appreciation,” the president added.
