Their love affair with the country dates back to when they were guests at Prince Nikolaos' fairytale wedding to Tatiana Blatnik. The 2010 nuptials took place in Spetses, which is also in the same sun-drenched, southern nook as their new home. Their 4,000 square-metre estate cost €4.5 million and boasts a swimming pool, private beach and marina for their exclusive use. It will be the perfect place for the couple's three young daughters, Amalia, Alexia and Ariane to lap up the sun during the summer months.

Maxima and Willem-Alexander can now count actor Sean Connery and Russian leader Vladimir Putin among their new neighbours.

As well as their royal residence in the Netherlands, the couple also own a home in Maxima’s native Argentina (pictured). The $3.5 million Patagonia ranch is nestled in two acres of land and offers stunning views and absolute seclusion from the pressures of public life. Their latest Grecian acquisition is now the perfect replacement for a villa in Mozambique, which they sold in 2009.
