Brave Princess Mabel steps back into public life after husband's accident

23 MAY 2012 With her sister-in-law Princess Maxima by her side, Princess Mabel made a return to public life following her husband's tragic accident.

The blonde royal attended a concert by the Dutch Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at the Barbican Theatre in London, where she resides with her daughters Luana, seven, and six-year-old Zaria.

Dressed in somber black, the 43-year-old looked slightly strained – understandable after all her family have been through.

Her husband Prince Johan Friso is in a coma after being trapped by an avalanche in the Austrian Alps on February 17.

The 43-year-old was under the snow for 15 minutes and his brain was starved of oxygen while rescuers tried to locate him off-piste.

Johan is now being cared for at London's Wellington hospital, where he is regularly visited by his wife and children.

His mother Queen Beatrix also makes weekly trips to the British capital to see her son, reports Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
