Princess Charlene of Monaco pays tribute to her home country with lavish South Africa gala

South Africa was in the spotlight on Saturday as Princess Charlene of Monaco honoured her home coutry with a glamourous gala held at the Monte Carlo Opera House.

With her husband, Prince Albert, by her side and surrounded by family members, including her father Mike, Charlene looked striking in a black and gold floorlength dress and wore a matching bracelet on her arm.

The South Africa Night gala began a week long celebration of the country, known as Touch of Africa, which ends on October 6.

Kicking off proceedings was South African musician Johnny Clegg, who took to the stage performing his best loved tracks such as Asimbonanga which roused the crowd to their feet as they danced the night away.

Several other famous faces are reportly in Monaco to attend the forthcoming festivities, including Charlene's brother Gareth, Swedish model Victoria Silvstedt and Sir Roger Moore, who also attended the couple's royal wedding in July 2011.
