Pregnant Kate returned home to spend Father's Day with her dad Michael

18 JUNE 2013

With weeks to go until she welcomes her first baby, Kate Middleton headed home to spend Father's Day with her dad Michael Middleton. The pregnant Duchess of Cambridge, 31, reportedly returned to the family property in Bucklebury in Berkshire on Sunday to spend some quality time with her father.

A source told US Weekly, that Kate and Michael went out to lunch together at a local restaurant. It's unclear whether her mum Carole, or her siblings, Pippa, 29, and James, 26, joined them.

Meanwhile, dad-to-be Prince William, who next year will celebrate his first Father's Day, spent the day competing against his younger brother Prince Harry at a charity match at Beaufort Polo Club in Tetbury.

The ground is just around the corner from Prince Charles' Gloucestershire home, Highgrove, and it's likely his two boys headed there afterwards to celebrate Father's Day.

Kate's return to Bucklebury on Sunday would also have allowed her to make final preparations before the arrival of her baby. It is thought that the Duchess will move home to be with her mother and father as she adjusts to her role as a new mum.

After giving birth in July, Kate will move from hospital to her parents' home, and is expected to spend the first six weeks there.

Kate is very close to Carole and Michael and broke with royal tradition late last year when she and Prince William chose to spend Christmas at the Middletons £4.85million Georgian home, rather than at the Queen's Sandringham Estate.

Situated in the countryside, the secluded house will give the royal couple and their newborn more privacy and having mum-of-three Carole around will provide Kate with invaluable support.

On Saturday, the Duchess made her last royal appearance before her baby arrives at the Trooping of the Colour ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

She joined her husband and other members of the family to celebrate the Queen's official birthday for her last public engagement before the start of her maternity leave.

Heavily pregnant Kate dressed her baby bump in a light pink coat by Alexander McQueen and a hat in a smilier shade by couture milliner Jane Corbett. She sat with her brother-in-law Harry and the Duchess of Cornwall in the leading carriage as the procession got underway.

Prince William, Prince Charles and Princess Anne rode on horseback throughout the parade, before the royals family assembled on the palace balcony to watch the spectacular flypast.
