Princess Madeleine and her adorable children will be cheering on their country as Sweden's women's football team compete in the Olympic finals on Friday night. Madeleine has shared a photo of her son Prince Nicolas, sporting his national colours in a yellow and blue football kit.

The proud mum wrote on Facebook: "Nicolas wishes the Swedish women's football team all the best for tonight's gold medal match! ‪#‎GoSweden‬."

The 14-month-old prince was the picture of cuteness, holding a small football and showing off his steady walking skills.

Sweden is set to play Germany in the Olympic finals, having defeated host country Brazil in the semi-finals earlier this week. Madeleine and her family are no doubt hoping for a gold to add to Sweden's current total of eight Olympic medals from Rio.

Her followers left comments on Facebook, confident that the Scandinavian nation could secure a victory, while also complimenting her little boy.

Nicolas is the younger child of Madeleine and her husband Chris O'Neill. The couple welcomed their son in June last year, shortly after their second wedding anniversary.

Madeleine, 34, and Chris, 42, also have a two-year-old daughter Princess Leonore.

The Swedish royal also has a two-year-old daughter Princess Leonore

The British businessman recently spoke about his children, saying: "They are two different individuals. Nicolas is a soft little guy. Leonore is dominant and a determined little girl."

He added to Swedish publication Expressen: "We want to have more children. One or two."

While the family are now based in London – where Chris' mum Eva also lives – because of Chris' job, they spend a fair amount of time going back to Sweden for family gatherings and official engagements.

The family have been enjoying the summer at their official royal residence Solliden Palace, where they have been reunited with Madeleine's siblings and parents.
